My son is turning amp never owned a game. Do I get him a Nintendo or PSP. Wondering if PSP is too advanced.?

nintendo because the psp will be hard for him and the ds has more friendlier games instead of the psp when it for adults and teens also the games are very harsh and sometimes scary
