Anyway of testing to see if a remote control is working.?

Strangely, I have a black and white CCTV camera that gives me a view of my back garden. It has some sort of infra red light arrangement on it to allow it to give some sort of picture at night. If I point a remote control at it, and press the button, I can actually see the normally invisible lightpulses that come from it.brbrI found this out accidentally when testing the camera indoors prior to installation. I connected it to the TV, and then found its ability to see remote control pulses.
